Are all the cars you sell left hand drive?
Yes we only sell left hand drive and we do not get involved in conversions to right hand drive.
Are there any disadvantages of buying an American car?
Not really- there is a small compromise as left hand drive make overtaking more tricky but most people want something a little different . The radio frequencies only work on even numbers (95.8 is fine but 97.3 is not for example) but we have solutions for this.
What about servicing, parts and repairs?
These days wherever you are in the country you are never far from a specialist, in addition most of these garages or mechanics charge sensible labour rates unlike the main European franchises! Parts are incredibly cheap and easy and you can use us for these or a host of other companies we can put you in touch with.
What about Road tax?
Road tax is surprisingly low on the cars we import. They come in under two categories- LGV for trucks, currently £200 per annum or PLG for cars at £205 per annum.
Can I claim back my VAT?
Some of the trucks we supply can be certificated for carrying a 1 tonne payload but please ask us for further info.
What happens to the car once it is in the UK?
Every import has to go through a Government test called an IVA(cars) or SVA (trucks). Luckily all of the vehicles we bring in comply with the Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards which is recognized as being as good as European standards. We therefore only have to make minor changes to the car/truck things such as amber indicators, white side lights, rear fog lights for example. Our in house team has over 15 years experience of making sure these conversions are carried out safely and with due consideration to the appearance of the vehicle.
How long does it take for my car to come over?
Normally source and ship a car in about 4 weeks with a further two weeks needed over in the UK for IVA/SVA work and registration. If we order a car from factory then we are governed by the delays at the factory but sold orders are always built before stock vehicles.
Do you supply cars with warranties?
All of our cars come with a comprehensive 12 month warranty as standard. This may be upgraded to 36 months at cost.
How do I know I am going to get what I order
Before we take a deposit, we get the VIN number of the car or truck you have ordered and show you the window sticker- this details every option installed at the factory and is your guarantee of the spec you have selected.
What about recalls?
Wherever possible we alert customers to the occasional recall issued by the manufacturer but we recommend keeping an eye on the on relevant websites as they all have sections to a search facility by VIN number.
